The Left's War On Cops
During his marathon press conference last week, Joe Biden didn't get one question on crime, even though polling shows he and the left are in deep trouble on the issue.
The new mayor of New York City is a former police officer who promised to get tough on crime. Biden spoke to the nation's mayors on Friday, and declared his support for the police. He did so because polling shows rising crime is now a top concern among voters.
All the soft on crime governors and mayors are liberals. Believe it or not, California Gov. Gavin Newsom apologized for using the term "gangs" last week. All the soft on crime district attorneys are liberals.
And while Joe Biden is changing his rhetoric, his actions and policies remain the same. He is preparing a series of executive orders that will disarm, not the criminals, but the police.
Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, the political left and their media allies have been demonizing police for years, but especially during the Trump presidency. The more Donald Trump supported the police, the more the left attacked them.
Biden has condemned law enforcement as "systemically racist." Like Obama, Biden has routinely sided with the criminals over law enforcement.
Meanwhile, a police officer in Washington, D.C., was shot yesterday. A deputy sheriff was shot and killed in Houston. And two New York City police officers were ambushed in Harlem. One officer was killed.
Harlem's socialist councilwoman has called the police "the biggest gang in New York City." She has called for defunding the police and closing the jails.
This is the world we are in. The leftist hostility to law enforcement, which Joe Biden embraces, has led to rising crime and a shortage of police recruits.
And just in case you think I'm being overly critical, I checked the White House website and social media pages this morning. There were statements and tweets about Ukraine, abortion and vaccines. There was even something about the "equitable implementation of the infrastructure law."
But I could not find any statement condemning the attacks on the brave men and women in law enforcement who keep us safe. And that speaks volumes.
Caught Red-Handed
Investigative journalist and president of the Government Accountability Institute Peter Schweizer has a new book coming out this week called, "Red-Handed: How America's Elites Get Rich Helping China Win." I'm looking forward to reading it as I expect it will be full of shocking revelations.
Here's something that probably won't shock you: Uber lobbyist Tony Podesta is working for Huawei, a major Chinese company. According to financial disclosure reports, Huawei paid Podesta $1 million to lobby the Biden Administration last year on trade issues and gaining greater access to our markets.
If his name sounds familiar, it should. He's the brother of John Podesta, Bill Clinton's White House chief of staff, a top Obama White House adviser and Hillary's Clinton 2016 presidential campaign manager.
The Trump Administration designated Huawei as a national security threat because of its close ties to the communist Chinese government. The Biden Administration renewed that designation just last month.
Huawei insists it is just a normal business like any other company. But even the left-wing Washington Post has reported that Huawei is deeply involved in helping China's communist regime conduct mass surveillance on its citizens and political dissidents.
In 2011, then-Vice President Biden delivered a groveling speech in China. Biden declared that "A rising China is a positive development, not only for the people of China but for the United States and the world as a whole."
Biden went on to say that we needed to cement our relationship by inviting greater Chinese involvement in virtually every aspect of America, including "all levels of government. . . [and] classrooms and laboratories, athletic fields and boardrooms."
Joe Biden also took his son, Hunter, on trips to communist China. While there, Hunter cut deals with companies controlled by the Chinese communist government. There is speculation that the Biden Administration is limited in its ability to confront communist China because the whole Biden family may be compromised by Hunter's financial dealings.
Meanwhile, Rep. Eric Swalwell, who was literally in bed with a Chinese communist spy, still sits on the House Intelligence Committee.
America At Risk
Biden's first year in office was so bad that 70% of the country doesn't want him to run for reelection, and 72% of Americans believe our country is on the wrong track. But whatever the political future holds, the damage the left has done to America won't be easily reversed.
Of all Biden's bad days, the worst was when his administration failed to withdraw from Afghanistan in a prudent manner. Americans on the left and right agreed that it was time to leave Afghanistan after 20 years. On that point, the country was united.
But Biden was unable to withdraw with dignity and strength. Not only did we lose 13 brave military personnel, he left behind billions of dollars of American military equipment. He left behind American citizens. And he left behind America's credibility. Thanks to Joe Biden, our allies don't trust us and our enemies don't fear us.
We watched the horrific events in Kabul unfold on TV. But we weren't the only ones watching. In Beijing, Moscow and Tehran, evil men got the evidence they needed that America had replaced a strong president with a weak, befuddled and clueless president.
So this morning, we're facing the very real possibility of a major war in Europe, and yesterday, communist China sent 39 warplanes into Taiwan's airspace. It is absolutely clear that Russia and communist China are coordinating their aggression because, like most wild animals, they smell fear in the Oval Office. And, in case you missed it, communist China, Russia and Iran just started conducting joint naval maneuvers.
But Joe Biden reserves his anger and harshest criticism for any American who supports commonsense election integrity reforms. This may well be one of the most dangerous moments America has faced in decades.
Looking Ahead
2024 is a long way off. Anything can happen between now and then. But while the polls show that Joe Biden is struggling, Donald Trump appears to be a strong position.
One recent survey finds that 70% of Republican primary voters want Donald Trump to run again. If he did, he would dominate the GOP primary campaign, taking 53% to 13% for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and 9% for former Vice President Mike Pence.
If Trump doesn't run, DeSantis is the frontrunner at 26%, followed by Donald Trump, Jr. 18% and Pence 9%.
In a hypothetical rematch, Trump beats Joe Biden 49% to 44%. He beats Hillary Clinton 51% to 41% and he defeat Kamala Harris 51% to 40%.
