Saving Life
We saw a remarkable contrast Friday and Saturday between those who choose life and those who choose death.
As we reported Friday, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who claims to be a devout Catholic, jammed through the House of Representatives the most pro-abortion bill in history. The so-called "Women's Health Protection Act" codifies Roe v. Wade into federal law, legalizes abortion on demand in all nine months of pregnancy and also wipes out all pro-life state laws.
Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco blasted the Women's Health Protection Act, saying it was "surely the type of legislation one would expect from a devout Satanist, not a devout Catholic."
A lot of so-called "moderates" have a lot of explaining to do. There's nothing "moderate" about this bill at all.
American Values promotes the truth, and we're going to promote the truth about this obscene pro-abortion legislation. But we need your financial support to do it.
Now, if this vote outrages you, this next story should inspire you.
I'm sure you remember the iconic image out of Afghanistan at the Kabul airport. A desperate woman was holding up her newborn baby to be rescued from the Taliban. A U.S. Marine, hanging precariously on the fence, reached one strong arm down, grabbed that baby's hand and brought it into the safety of the airport.
At a rally in Georgia Saturday, Donald Trump called that Marine, Lance Corporal Hunter Clark, on to the stage. The crowd roared its appreciation. Corporal Clark said, "I am the guy that pulled the baby over the wall, and it's definitely one of the greatest things I’ve ever done in my entire life."
Many of us are actively working to advance a culture of life, whether it's volunteering at a crisis pregnancy center or financially supporting pro-life organizations. Every time we fight to preserve innocent unborn life, it's the most important thing we do.
Honoring Our Heroes
Trump's rally in Perry, Georgia, drew a huge crowd. Lance Corporal Clark was more "woke" in the real sense of that word in understanding the truth than all the leftists pulling down statues and hating America.
As badly as Biden botched the Afghanistan withdrawal, the men and women he sent to secure the Kabul airport are the hope for our future. At the rally Saturday night, Trump insisted that 13 seats, each with a folded U.S. flag, be reserved in the front row to represent the 13 brave military men and women who gave their lives due to Joe Biden's incompetence.
Biden still hasn't given those 13 courageous Americans the honor they deserve, and the families of our fallen heroes are still furious with him for his disrespect at Dover Air Force Base.
Biden's Big Week
This is going to be a big week in Congress for Joe Biden, and it's already off to a bad start. Speaker Nancy Pelosi had to break her promise to hold a vote today on a $1.2 trillion physical infrastructure bill that has already passed the Senate.
The vote will supposedly take place on Thursday. It was delayed because House socialists are threatening to tank the physical infrastructure bill if they don't get everything they want in a $3.5 trillion "human infrastructure/Green New Deal" bill that they plan to jam through Congress on a purely party-line vote using the reconciliation process.
Both bills are terrible, and the combined spending of $4.7 trillion, which is undoubtedly too low in its estimates, is contributing to growing fears of surging inflation.
By the way, Biden seems to think that his $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill doesn't cost anything and is overwhelmingly popular. The American people think otherwise. The latest Rasmussen poll finds that only 36% of voters support Biden's reconciliation bill, while 53% oppose it.
In addition, the Democrat majority still must pass a continuing resolution to keep the government open and legislation to raise the debt limit, both of which are facing hard deadlines in the coming days.
And tomorrow, there should be fireworks on Capitol Hill when General Mark "Thoroughly Modern" Milley and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin testify before the Senate Armed Services Committee about the debacle in Afghanistan.
Border Lies
As we reported all last week, President Biden and the left lied and viciously smeared our brave Border Patrol agents to stoke racial tensions, divide Americans and distract from the failures and chaos of their radical open borders agenda. Threats from our own government against the brave agents continued over the weekend.
If the Biden Administration does retaliate against the Border Patrol agents, Texas Governor Greg Abbott vowed to hire them, saying, "If they are at risk of losing their job [from] a president who is abandoning his duty to secure the border, you have a job in the state of Texas. I will hire you to help Texas secure the border."
Meanwhile, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas went on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace and deliberately lied to the American people. I started losing track of Mayorkas's lies as I watched the interview, but kudos to the New York Post for keeping score! It found seven flat-out falsehoods in his comments yesterday.
Appeasing Communist China
Late Friday, it was announced that Huawei chief financial officer Meng Wanzhou had been released and returned home to China. Huawei was deemed a national security threat by the Federal Communication Commission. Meng had been detained in Canada at the request of the United States because Huawei was violating sanctions against Iran.
In response, communist China seized two Canadians on false charges and held them as hostages. And with Meng's release, the two Canadians were freed.
The reason this "deal" was announced late Friday is because it was another craven act of appeasement by the Biden Administration to communist China. While Biden claims the United States will stand up to Beijing, he keeps backing down again and again and again.
You'll recall that the Trump Administration moved aggressively to crack down on spying by communist China, especially on our college campuses. It's a huge problem. FBI Director Christopher Wray said just last week that his agency was opening one investigation into Chinese spying "every 12 hours."
But in recent weeks, the Justice Department began dismissing charges brought against Chinese researchers last year. Some liberals insist that the investigations are racist because more Chinese are being "racially profiled" and arrested.
That's not racism. It's just common sense. Not only are the communist Chinese sending spies here, they're also pressuring Chinese immigrants to assist them.
