The Results

The Super Tuesday results are in, and it was a good night for the front-runners. Hillary Clinton won seven states last night: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

Senator Sanders carried four states: Colorado, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Vermont.

On the GOP side, Donald Trump also carried seven states: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Vermont and Virginia.

Super Tuesday, A Fourth Party?, Just Three Christians?, Why It Matters

Super Tuesday

From Alaska to Alabama, voters are going to the polls today to cast their ballots in the biggest presidential primary contests to date. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump appear to be in the driver's seat in their respective races.

While Bernie Sanders is vowing to fight on through all fifty primaries, Hillary Clinton remains the heavy favorite to clinch her party's nomination. For Republicans, the future is less clear.

South Carolina Results

As was widely predicted, Hillary Clinton won Saturday's Democrat primary in South Carolina. What no one predicted was the lopsided result: Clinton 74%, Sanders 26%.

Clinton's victory was impressive. She carried every single county. According to exit polls, she won every major demographic except one: Millennials or voters under 30. And she crushed Sanders with black voters: 86% to 14%.

Debate Recap

The gloves came off at last night's Republican debate in Houston, Texas. Senators Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio were eager to knock Donald Trump off his perch as the GOP frontrunner. While I am glad they had a spirited debate, I really don't think it helps when everyone talks at the same time.

Here's how the Associated Press described the debate:

The remaining Republican candidates will take the stage tonight in Houston, Texas. Tonight's debate will be hosted by CNN and begins at 8:30 p.m. ET.

This could well be a make-or-break moment for the GOP contenders heading into Super Tuesday on March 1st. Twelve states are voting next week and nearly 600 delegates are up for grabs.

No Hearings, Trump Runs The Table In Nevada, Obama Letting Illegals Vote

No Hearings

We reported yesterday that Senator Charles Grassley, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, was holding firm in his opposition to hearings for any Obama nominee to the Supreme Court. In fact, Grassley invoked the so-called "Biden Rule." (In 1992 then-Judiciary Committee chairman Senator Joe Biden warned President George H.W. Bush against making any nominations to the Supreme Court in the election year.)

Obama Presses Radical Agenda

Oh, if only we had a president who cared as much about veterans as he does about the comfort of enemy combatants. Speaking at a White House press conference this morning, President Obama announced that the Pentagon was submitting a formal plan to Congress to close the terrorist detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Results: Nevada

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton won the Nevada Democrat caucuses Saturday by a larger than expected margin of 53% to 47%. Two recent polls showed Clinton and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders were tied in Nevada, and the Sanders campaign desperately wanted to prove that New Hampshire wasn't an aberration. But it just wasn't in the cards.

Reports suggest Clinton got a big boost from behind-the-scenes efforts orchestrated by Senator Harry Reid, who got a number of unions off the sidelines at the last minute.

Pope Francis -- Please Call Your Office!, Goodbye, Nino

Goodbye, Nino

The body of Justice Antonin Scalia was brought this morning to the Supreme Court, where it will lie in repose until his funeral tomorrow. My heart breaks for his wife, Maureen, their nine children and 36 grandchildren. It is difficult to imagine the Supreme Court without him. He was the court's conservative anchor for almost 30 years.

Supreme Chaos

The death of Justice Antonin Scalia is creating chaos on Capitol Hill. Today's Washington Post reports, "Senate Republicans clashed Wednesday over how to battle President Obama's expected Supreme Court nomination." In addition, the White House is refusing to rule out a recess appointment.
