Friday’s March For Life was an extraordinary reminder of why elections matter. For the past four years, every lever of power and every bureaucracy in the federal government was dedicated to ensuring that the number of abortions remained as high as possible.
Those days are over!
President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance addressed the March For Life. Both men boldly and proudly made the case for life. For example, President Trump said:
“In my second term, we will again stand proudly for families and for life. We will protect the historic gains we have made. . . We will work to offer a loving hand to new mothers and young families, and we will support adoption and foster care. . .
“To all of the very special people marching today in this bitter cold, I know your hearts are warm and your spirits are strong because your mission is just very, very pure: to forge a society that welcomes and protects every child as a beautiful gift from the hand of our Creator.”
Vice President Vance fired up the crowd by offering a bold vision for America. Vance said:
“I want more babies in the United States of America. I want more happy children in our country, and I want beautiful young men and women who are eager to welcome them into the world and eager to raise them. . .
“Now, it should be easier to raise a family, easier to find a good job, easier to build a home to raise that family in, easier to save up and purchase a good stroller, a crib for a nursery.
“We need a culture that celebrates life at all stages, one that recognizes and truly believes that the benchmark of national success is not our GDP number or our stock market, but whether people feel that they can raise thriving and healthy families in our country.”
Trump and Vance also addressed the un-American persecution of peaceful pro-life activists. President Trump declared:
“Under my leadership, a reformed Department of Justice will finally investigate the radical left attacks on churches and crisis-pregnancy centers, and we will bring perpetrators to justice. . . I will also end the weaponization of law enforcement against Americans of faith. . . Never again will religious persecution be allowed to happen in America.”
Vance echoed that pledge, saying:
“With [Donald Trump’s] return to office, no longer will the federal government direct FBI raids on the homes of . . . Catholic and Christian activists who are fighting for the unborn every single day. And no longer will our government throw pro-life protesters and activists, elderly grandparents or anybody else in prison. It stopped on Monday, and we’re not going to let it come back to this country.”
In addition to speaking at the March For Life, President Trump took important actions Friday. He reinstated the Mexico City policy and ordered federal agencies to enforce the Hyde Amendment. With these actions, Trump ensured that American taxpayers will not be subsidizing abortions here or overseas.
The Trump/Vance administration has had an amazing first 100 hours! And they’re just getting warmed up!
Strength Matters
Colombian President Gustavo Petro defied Donald Trump for about four hours over the weekend. He refused to accept two plane loads of illegal immigrants Trump sent back to Colombia.
President Trump immediately warned Petro. He threatened to impose stiff tariffs on Colombia products, sanctions on Colombian government officials, and he also threatened to seize Colombian bank accounts in the United States.
Before the day was over, Petro caved and even offered to send his presidential plane to pick up the migrants.
This wasn’t a minor confrontation with an insignificant country. The president of Colombia is a very bad man. He’s a Marxist, and he’s deeply submerged in a partnership with horrific drug cartels.
Petro and others in Colombia are getting rich off the invasion of people and drugs into our country. Colombia is also the gateway to the Darien Gap, a region connecting South America and Central America that is heavily traversed by illegal migrants.
It was probably Trump’s threat to seize bank accounts and impose personal sanctions that caused Petro’s quick turnaround. But he was totally uncooperative during the Biden administration because he knew Biden was a pushover. Donald Trump just sent a message to Colombia and the entire world that he won’t be pushed around.
Here’s another example of what a strong president can do.
Donald Trump went to Los Angeles Friday to survey the damage from the wildfires and meet with local officials. Homeowners in the devastated areas have been extremely frustrated by bureaucrats who won’t allow them to return and inspect their homes.
Trump walked into a room full of left-wing politicians, and he totally dominated the meeting. He told the mayor to let people go back to their homes now. She caved. Trump also promised to waive federal regulations to help the area rebuild and recover faster. He urged California officials to do the same.
What other president, Republican or Democrat, would voluntarily walk into a room where every official was from the opposite party and proceed to take them all on? Joe Biden would never do that.
The very thing that bothers so many good people who get hung up on Trump’s gruff style is exactly what makes him who he is and effective at governing. His willingness to fly in the face of consensus, to challenge the conventional wisdom, and stand up to the establishment is what so many Americans love about him.
Cleaning Out Gaza
President Trump once again challenged the conventional wisdom by suggesting that Arab nations, particularly Egypt and Jordan, take in the Palestinians in order to “clean out” Gaza. Of course, members of the foreign policy establishment immediately set their hair on fire.
But just a reminder: Joe Biden promised to relocate thousands of Palestinians from Gaza -- not to Egypt or Jordan -- but to the United States. There are already thousands of Palestinians in our country. Many are on our university campuses fomenting antisemitism.
Donald Trump is not going to bring thousands of Palestinians to America. Egypt and Jordan won’t even take them.
Are there decent Palestinians? Of course. But research shows that the overwhelming majority of Gazans still support the October 7th attacks. We don’t need that hate here.
Words Matter
Ronald Reagan was a master of communication. It is tremendously important that conservatives can overcome the lies that the media allows the left to get away with. We got a good example of this from Vice President J.D. Vance.
CBS “Face the Nation” host Margaret Brennan pressed Vance on the administration’s immigration enforcement policies. After a contentious back and forth, Brennan said, “Well, this is a country founded by immigrants. This is a unique country.”
Then Vance shut her down, saying:
“This is a very unique country, and it was founded by some immigrants and some settlers. But just because we were founded by immigrants doesn’t mean that 240 years later we have to have the dumbest immigration policy in the world.”
His response brought something else to my mind. When does the left point to the America of 240 years ago and say, “Yes, that’s something we believe in. Why don’t we still follow that?” They’ll do it on immigration, and people will fall for it.
But 240 years ago, people believed that liberty came from God. Two hundred and forty years ago, people believed there were men, women, and nothing else. They gave us a constitutional Republic, not a democracy; a government with a clear separation of powers. But the left isn’t interested in any of that. In fact, they want to do away with all of it.
Cleaning Out The CIA
CIA Director John Ratcliffe is wasting no time cleaning out the CIA and undoing the damage done by John Brennan and other leftists. Brennan and dozens of lying partisan hacks all lost their security clearances. Good!
Ratcliffe shut down the CIA’s DEI office. Of all the places, why was a DEI office ever allowed at the CIA? We won’t be seeing any more woke recruiting ads like this one or this one.
The first day he was there, Ratcliffe ordered the release of a report that he knew existed – the CIA’s report on the origins of COVID-19. That report stated what the FBI knew, what the Department of Energy knew, and what we all knew: COVID-19 came from the Wuhan lab in communist China.
But for the last four years, we were told that the CIA couldn’t come to a conclusion. That wasn’t true. They just refused to share their conclusion with us. It was more of the same leftist lies meant to keep us all in the dark.
Never Again
Today marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camps at Auschwitz, revealing some of the worst horrors of the Holocaust.
In 2005, as then-Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was threatening a second Holocaust by vowing to “wipe Israel off the map,” the United Nations voted to recognize January 27th as International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu used this solemn anniversary to warn about the growing danger of antisemitism. He declared:
“On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, I call on all civilized nations to confront antisemitism wherever it appears -- on college campuses, city streets, or international forums like the [International Criminal Court].
“Founded in the shadow of the Holocaust, the ICC has disgraced itself with antisemitic attacks on Israel. Hamas are the new Nazis, and we are committed to defeating them once and for all. The Jewish state will always stand as a safe haven for Jews worldwide.”
This Just In. . .
Acting Attorney General James McHenry fired more than a dozen Justice Department officials who worked with Jack Smith to prosecute President Trump.
In a statement, the Justice Department said, “In light of their actions, the Acting Attorney General does not trust these officials to assist in faithfully implementing the President’s agenda.”
