Now They Tell Us

The inspector general for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) just issued a damning report on the so-called “vetting” of Afghan refugees during Joe Biden’s disastrous retreat from Kabul. It’s enough to make your blood boil.

Many people, myself included, raised loud objections at the time about inadequate vetting. But Biden Administration officials and their liberal media allies aggressively rejected those legitimate concerns.  

General Mark “Thoroughly Modern” Milley told Fox News, “I am very comfortable that these folks are being properly cleared through the FBI.”   

The notion that these refugees were being thoroughly vetted was obviously a lie, as anyone watching chaos in Kabul could see. People we should have brought here could not get to the airport. But those who could push their way to the airport were brought here, even if we had no idea who they were.

And now the inspector general is telling us:

“U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) did not always have critical data to properly screen, vet, or inspect the evacuees. . .  some information used to vet evacuees through U.S. Government databases . . . was inaccurate, incomplete, or missing."

As a result of this missing or inaccurate information, the inspector general concluded, "DHS may have admitted or paroled individuals into the United States who pose a risk to national security and the safety of local communities." 

I hope any decent, legitimate Afghan refugee brought here will assimilate and experience the American Dream. But there’s no denying the reality that Joe Biden failed to do the basic minimum required to keep us safe.

Biden had to know the truth long before this report came out about what really happened. But during his address at Independence Hall, he said nothing about the danger of radical Islam. Instead, Biden insisted that the danger to America comes from violent MAGA patriots. That’s a lie. 

The irony is that he has brought people into the country – whether from Kabul or from our wide-open southern border – who are real threats to our national security and the safety of our local communities!

Ever since he stepped foot inside the Oval Office, Joe Biden has done nothing but divide the American people to distract us from his many failures, including his failure to keep America safe. 

A Tale Of Two Sons

Former President Trump said recently that not only did the FBI agents rifle through Melania’s closet during the raid on Mar-a-Lago, they also “did a deep and ugly search” of Barron Trump’s room. 

I couldn’t help but notice the irony. Sixteen year-old Barron had his privacy violated by what was in my view an unconstitutional FBI raid, while the adult Hunter Biden, the son of the current president, isn’t experiencing any discomfort at all. 

But we don’t have to raid Hunter’s Malibu mansion. His “laptop from hell” detailing all his shady dealings is in the possession of multiple media outlets, probably several enemies of the United States, and the FBI! 

Once again, the double standard of justice is disgusting.

Biden’s Green Energy Czar

He’s baaack! John Podesta is back in the White House yet again, this time as Joe Biden’s new “green energy” czar. He’ll be in charge of overseeing $370 billion in green energy boondoggles. 

As we have pointed out repeatedly, this mad rush for green energy makes us weaker. It is abandoning one of the greatest assets we have – lots of coal, oil and natural gas. And it benefits communist China because they have cornered the market on the rare earth metals necessary to make green energy possible. 

So, it makes perfect sense that Biden has appointed Podesta to this post. A new report indicates he is knee deep in collaboration with the communist Chinese. 

Podesta is on the steering committee of the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF). The foundation is registered in the U.S. under the Foreign Agents Registration Act. 

The leader of the organization, Tung Chee-hwa serves as vice chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) – the Beijing body that directs China’s overseas influence operations. Not surprisingly, eight other core leaders of CUSEF have also served in the CPPCC. 

U.S. government reports say Tung is “clearly associated” with Chinese espionage, intimidation and propaganda efforts.

One column co-authored by Podesta and Tung was all about how the U.S. and China can work together toward a greener future. Of course, communist China wants us to be dependent on them.

The long reach of Beijing’s tentacles is disturbing. The ability of Chinese communists to regularly reach into the highest levels of the Biden Administration is more than disturbing.

Did Joe get Hunter’s advice on the Podesta appointment? Was Podesta involved in any of Hunter’s Beijing business dealings? 

Meanwhile, we should take a moment to learn the lessons of our European allies, who are currently struggling with a major energy crisis because of their dependence on foreign energy. 

Tens of thousands of British companies are on the verge of going bankrupt because of high energy prices, while many Britons are facing energy bills that exceed their monthly income. 

In response to this energy crisis, Prime Minister Liz Truss is going in the exact opposite direction of Joe Biden. She’s lifting her country’s ban on fracking in order to boost domestic energy production.

Drawing A Line

The Miami-Dade County School Board, Florida’s largest school district, just voted down a proposal to make October LGBTQ history month. The vote was 8-to-1. We’ll see how long that vote holds up. I’m sure the intolerant leftist onslaught is unbelievable. 

Isn’t June Pride Month enough? We just got a major report showing that America’s children are falling further and further behind academically. They barely know real American history and civics as it is. Do we really need to devote more time to teaching our kids “queer history”? 

We must get back to the basics of fundamental education. To do that, we must draw a clear line somewhere, and this seems like a good line to me.

“London Bridge Is Down”

That was the phrase reportedly transmitted this afternoon to officials of the United Kingdom informing them that Queen Elizabeth II has died. 

Born Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor in 1926, Elizabeth was never supposed to become queen. But in an unusual twist of fate, her father assumed the throne when her uncle, Edward VIII, abdicated in 1936. And the burden of the monarchy was thrust upon her at the early age of 25.

Elizabeth II was the embodiment of duty and service to God and Country. She worked as a mechanic during World War II and became England’s longest reigning monarch, serving her country as queen for 70 years. For most Britons, Elizabeth II was the only sovereign they had ever known.

Through the course of her reign, she served with 15 British prime ministers, including Winston Churchill, and 13 American presidents. Elizabeth II was also known for her deep and abiding faith.

With the passing of Elizabeth II today, her oldest son, Charles, is now king.
