Bye, Bye Liz
Liz Cheney’s political career went down in flames last night. The extent of her utter defeat in the Wyoming Republican primary is absolutely stunning!
She lost by 37 points to Trump-endorsed conservative Harriett Hageman – 66% to 29%. As an incumbent officeholder, it’s shocking that Cheney couldn’t even break 30%!
Cheney’s defeat is all the more remarkable when you consider the fact that she raised more than $15 million. For perspective, that’s about seven times more than the winner of the 2020 Wyoming Senate race! Hageman had just a fraction of that.
Of course, much of Cheney’s money came from the Bush/Rove wing of the GOP establishment. John Kasich and Mitt Romney were cheering for her.
She had support from wealthy Democrats from all over the country. Democrat members of Congress endorsed her. And Cheney even turned to Democrat voters to “save her hide,” as Politico put it.
Yet, even in the wake of this humiliating defeat, Cheney’s ego knows no limits. In her so-called “concession speech,” Liz Cheney compared herself to Abraham Lincoln.
She also quoted from Lincoln’s famous Gettysburg Address, where he declared, “That this nation under God shall have a new birth of freedom and a government of the people, by the people and for the people.”
Cheney made it clear that she is either going to run in the GOP presidential primary or run on a third party ticket in 2024. Believe it or not, Cheney has already transferred the remainder of her campaign cash into a new political organization dedicated to mobilizing “a unified effort to oppose any Donald Trump campaign for president.” Like we needed another anti-Trump effort.
With the help of liberal elites and NeverTrumpers, Cheney is now pursuing a path that could hand the country to the radical left, that is likely to doom any chance that America will have a “new birth of freedom” or a government “of the people, by the people and for the people.”
What selfish arrogance!
Let me remind you again that this isn’t just about Donald Trump. I know Trump is not the first choice of some conservatives. But Liz Cheney is naming other conservatives she refuses to accept, including Florida’s conservative governor.
I don’t know when Liz Cheney assumed she had the right to veto presidential nominees, but last night Wyoming Republicans vetoed the leading RINO in the House of Representatives – Liz Cheney!
Liz & The Left
If you happened to watch Cheney’s concession speech, you couldn’t help but marvel at the dramatic setting of her remarks. The camera angles were all perfect. The backdrop was perfect. It looked like, and perhaps was, a supremely well-staged presidential announcement speech.
Well, the reason it looked so good is because it was produced by James Goldston, the former ABC News president, who is also producing the January 6th Committee hearings.
Evidently, Mr. Goldston went to Wyoming with his expensive camera crew as a “friend of Liz Cheney” to stage last night’s event. His services may in fact be an illegal campaign contribution, but I am not holding my breath that anything will come of it.
Clearly, Liz Cheney is now a tool of the left and its media allies.
When I think of all the times I wasted my breath defending her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, when liberals were calling him a “war criminal” and demanding he be impeached, I am beyond dismayed.
Their shared hatred of Donald Trump managed to bring Dan Rather and Dick Cheney together. That tells you everything you need to know!
I am disgusted and outraged that at this point in time and with so much at stake, certain political elites would rather see the left tear America down than see an America First president make America great again.
Shame on them!
Dynasty Killer
It’s been noted that come January 2023, for the first time in modern political history, there will not be a Bush, a Cheney, a Clinton or a McCain in political office anywhere in America.
Along with “Ultra MAGA,” Donald Trump can proudly claim the title of “Dynasty Killer.”
Alaska Results
I wish the results from last night’s elections in Alaska were just as conclusive as Wyoming’s. Sadly, it could be weeks before we know the final totals because the state has adopted ranked choice voting. It’s fraught with the potential for abuse and totally unpredictable results.
Here’s what we know at this point.
With approximately 70% of the vote in, Sen. Lisa Murkowski narrowly leads Trump-endorsed challenger Kelly Tshibaka 44% to 40%. They will both advance to the November general election, along with two other candidates (the third and fourth place finishers) who are yet to be determined. Yes, there will be four candidates on the November ballot.
In the House special election to fill the remainder of the late Rep. Don Young’s term, Democrat Mary Peltola is currently leading former Gov. Sarah Palin because other Republican candidates split the vote.
Elections officials must now begin the convoluted process of scoring the ranked votes --the second, third and fourth choice preferences on all the ballots. This absurd process is expected to take at least another two weeks before we know the winner.
Biden’s Massive Climate Bill
Yesterday afternoon, Joe Biden signed his latest massive $740 billion spending bill into law. Officially, it’s called the Inflation Reduction Act. But even Bernie Sanders and Joe Manchin admit it does virtually nothing to reduce inflation.
Indeed, most media outlets confirm it doesn’t address inflation because they’re calling it a “healthcare bill,” or a “tax bill” or a “climate bill” or all three – anything but an inflation reduction bill.
But while liberals are celebrating this “climate bill,” climate change is at the bottom of the list of issues voters are most concerned about. In the latest Gallup survey, climate change didn’t even make the top ten! It registered at just 3%.
How’s that for progressive priorities?
Speaking of progressive priorities, as we have noted before, this bill also doubles the size of the IRS with an additional $80 billion. That’s not $80 billion for our national defense, but $80 billion for additional IRS agents. Not Border Patrol agents to stop illegal immigration or to put more cops on the street, but tens of thousands of additional IRS enforcers to harass you.
Meanwhile, I couldn’t help but notice that when Joe Biden walked into the room to sign the bill, he came in with a mask on. Fair enough. First Lady Jill Biden had just been diagnosed with COVID.
But Biden then took his mask off and proceeded to cough into his hand. Then, he used multiple pens to sign the legislation which he then handed to other elderly politicians in the room.
It sure looked like a super-spreader event to me!
