China Lied & People Died
The Department of Homeland Security issued a report late last week confirming what we have been telling you for some time now: China lied about the severity of the coronavirus, stockpiled emergency medical supplies and then profited from that fraud.
There's no innocent explanation for this. And knowing how severe the virus was, Beijing's communist leaders stopped travel inside China but allowed people to travel outside of China, spreading the virus.
Foreign intelligence agencies are reaching similar conclusions. A reportprepared for western intelligence officials labeled China's lies "an assault on international transparency."
During a virtual town hall event last night on Fox News, President Trump said, "I think they made a horrible mistake and didn't want to admit it. We wanted to go in but they didn't want us there."
The president also said that the administration would soon be releasing "conclusive evidence" that the virus leaked from a Chinese lab.
Nevertheless, major media outlets, including the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post, continue to say that President Trump and Secretary of State Pompeo are spreading an "unsubstantiated theory."
Speaking of labs, the Trump Administration is demanding answers from the Galveston National Laboratory, part of the Texas university system. The lab reportedly has signed "formal cooperative agreements" with the Wuhan Institute of Virology, the suspected source of the coronavirus leak.
The Galveston National Laboratory also has contracts with Huawei and other Chinese universities, which means it is likely dealing with the Chinese Communist Party.
Christians Kicked Out
Last month, we told you about the reception Franklin Graham's wonderful organization Samaritan's Purse received from New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio when the group set up a field hospital to help with coronavirus outbreak. The hospital has treated more than 300 people.
Proving that no good deed goes unpunished, City Council Speaker Corey Johnson attacked Franklin Graham Friday and demanded that the Samaritan's Purse hospital leave the city. Johnson tweeted:
"This group, led by the notoriously bigoted, hate-spewing Franklin Graham, came at a time when our city couldn't in good conscience turn away any offer of help. That time has passed. Their continued presence here is an affront to our values of inclusion, and is painful for all New Yorkers who care deeply about the LGBTQ community."
It was announced over the weekend by local media outlets that the Samaritan's Purse hospital will begin shutting down its operations today and leave the city in two weeks. One reporter added that the "decision was made to sever ties after controversy over the group's religious views."
Hostility to Christianity is now ingrained in the cultural and political left. That should frighten every believer.
Speaking of hostility to faith, the Justice Department is weighing in on behalf of a Virginia pastor who was cited by local police for violating Gov. Ralph Northam's edict banning church services during the coronavirus pandemic.
While Northam declared abortion clinics to be "essential businesses" and allowed Virginians to gather in liquor stores, churches were banned from hosting services with more than 10 people.
When Lighthouse Fellowship Church allowed 16 people to attend a service last month in its 225-seat sanctuary, police officers issued Reverend Kevin Wilsona criminal citation for violating the governor's order. Wilson is potentially facing a year in jail and a $2,500 fine. Siding with Pastor Wilson, Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband, said:
"For many people of faith, exercising religion is essential, especially during a crisis. The Commonwealth of Virginia has offered no good reason for refusing to trust congregants who promise to use care in worship in the same way it trusts accountants, lawyers, and other workers to do the same."
Getting Tough With Tehran
Kudos to Representatives Eliot Engel (D-NY) and Michael McCaul (R-TX)!
This bi-partisan duo leads the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and they have organized a letter, signed by 90% of the House, urging the Trump Administration to pressure the United Nations to maintain the arms embargo against Iran. The embargo is set to expire in October. The last thing the world's leading state-sponsor of terrorism needs is even more access to weapons!
Meanwhile, Iran and its apologists are attacking the administration for not providing more humanitarian aid during the coronavirus crisis. Why would the Trump Administration do that? Because the regime is using what precious resources it does have to pay for attacks against Israel.
Iran does not share a border with Israel, and faces no threat from Israel. Yet the tyrants of Tehran are dedicated to destroying the Jewish state. So much so that in the middle of this pandemic, they are sending suitcases full of cash to Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon and Syria.
