Post Pans Iran Pact

For the past few days, I have been sounding the alarm over the disturbing direction of President Obama's nuclear negotiations with Iran. Today the Washington Post, which had supported the talks, expresses "major concerns" as well. Here are some excerpts of the Post's editorial:

"First, a process that began with the goal of eliminating Iran's potential to produce nuclear weapons has evolved into a plan to tolerate and restrict that capability.

"Second, . . . the Obama administration . . . seems ready to concede Tehran a place as a regional power at the expense of Israel and other U.S. allies.

"Finally, the Obama administration is signaling that it will seek to implement any deal it strikes with Iran . . . without seeking a vote by [Congress]. . . . [The deal] would be imposed unilaterally by a president with less than two years left in his term."

Many on the left derisively dismiss concerns about these talks as "right-wing warmongering." The Post editorial blows that objection out of the water.

Here you have the epitome of the liberal Washington establishment echoing virtually everything I have complained about for months! In addition, the Post cites several concerns raised by liberal Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA).

And think about that last point, something we first raised back in October. The New York Times reported then that "If agreement is reached, President Obama will do everything in his power to avoid letting Congress vote on it."

On something as consequential as the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism becoming a "threshold" nuclear power, Obama is willing to let the fake Iranian parliament (real power rests with the supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei) have a vote, but not the elected representatives of the American people. Every member of Congress and every American citizen -- Democrat, Republican and Independent -- should be outraged by this effort to violate congressional prerogatives.

Iran's Anti-American Quote Of The Day

While the Obama Administration attempts to appease Iran, its leaders are not being coy about their intentions. Every day there is another offensive, in-your-face remark by a top Iranian military commander. While Obama refuses to expose Iran's aggressive actions throughout the Middle East, Iranian leaders show no such hesitancy to call out the U.S.

Here is today's anti-American quote delivered by Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri, deputy chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces:

"Iran's missile programs and defense capability, irrespective of their purpose, are not negotiable in any foreign circle. Gone are the days when the U.S. was a superpower, but some still haven't realized it."

Obama's Muslim Meeting

President Obama met Wednesday at the White House with more than a dozen leaders of the American Muslim community. One of the participants at the meeting said, "Clearly the number one issue raised [was the] alarming rise in anti-Muslim bigotry in America." And, according to this individual, the president "expressed his strong commitment to our community to fight anti-Muslim bigotry."

Twenty-four hours later, the president acted on that commitment by defending modern day Islam at the National Prayer Breakfast, while sermonizing to his audience about the "terrible deeds" committed in the past in the name of Christ.

If the attendees at this White House meeting were so concerned about anti-Muslim bigotry, I hope that the president took the time to explain that the number of mosques in the United States has nearly doubled since 9/11.

I hope the president explained that, according to the FBI's latest statistics, more than 60 percent of religious hate crimes were motivated by the offenders' anti-Jewish bias, while just 14 percent of such crimes were motivated by anti-Islamic bias.

I hope the president asked these leaders of the American Muslim community for their help in fighting the scourge of anti-Semitism, which is on the rise in Europe as Muslim immigration increases there.

And, most especially, I assume the president asked these leaders for their help in fighting extremism within the American Muslim community. We know young Muslims from Minnesota have left the country to wage jihad. We know Muslim teenage girls from Denver have tried to join ISIS.

In recent months we have seen jihadists attack New York police officers and gun down innocent Americans from one coast to the other. We know more than 100 American jihadists have volunteered with ISIS. Being concerned about radical Islam's jihad against the "infidels" is not bigotry or Islamophobia -- it's common sense.

Kudos To McConnell

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell forced the Senate to vote on legislation defunding Barack Obama's executive amnesty not once, not twice, but three times this week!

And each time, not one liberal senator was willing to put the Constitution and the rule of law ahead of party loyalty. Not even those who had previously expressed opposition to Obama's amnesty.

I hope Senator McConnell keeps it up, and I hope these senators are hearing from their constituents!

Liberal Lies

NBC News anchor Brian Williams is under fire -- figuratively -- for lying about an experience in Iraq a dozen years ago. Williams claims that the Chinook helicopter he was on as an embedded reporter in 2003 literally came under enemy fire from rocket-propelled grenades, and that he feared for his life when the chopper was forced to land.

Williams has regularly told this story over the years and embellished it with each telling. But retired Army Warrant Office Chris Simeone, who piloted the chopper Williams was on, says, "All that hit us was dust."

Questions are now being raised about the accuracy of Williams' reporting during Hurricane Katrina, and former NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw is said to be demanding "Williams' head on a platter."

Will Williams survive? I don't know. But I do know that any conservative news anchor would be finished. Meanwhile, I expect we will be reading Brian Williams' autobiography and learning about the tough time he had at Valley Forge with General Washington!
