Savage TV
In today's hypersensitive, politically correct culture, conservatives are afforded little margin for error. The slightest offense or error in judgment can often end a career. Sometimes it is something incredibly minor, but the merciless left-wing media smells blood and goes for the jugular.
For example, Dan Quayle added an extra letter to potato and the narrative of "Dan the dunce" was set in stone. Yet with liberals, it seems the slate is wiped clean every day. There is a disgusting double standard in how the media treat liberals and conservatives.
I was reminded about that double standard this morning when I read that some Hollywood executives thought it would be a really good idea to make a TV show about Dan Savage. And not just on some obscure cable channel that nobody watches but on ABC, a network owned by the Walt Disney Company.
Savage is a militant, left-wing activist who has never let any boundary stop him from promoting his radical homosexual agenda, not even assault. When I ran for the Republican presidential nomination, Savage wormed his way into my Iowa campaign headquarters and knowingly tried to infect me, my campaign staff and volunteers with the flu.
He went around licking glasses, door knobs and office equipment, and then he had the audacity to write about it. As a result of incriminating himself, he was charged with voter fraud and sentenced to community service.
Was this just a youthful indiscretion? No. Savage was 35 when he infiltrated my campaign. Nor was it an isolated incident. Savage was responsible for a disgusting online smear campaign against Senator Rick Santorum and tweeted his desire that Sarah Palin develop cancer.
Savage is perhaps best known for his anti-bullying "It Gets Better" campaign. But a few years ago, he was asked to address aspiring young journalists and his speech quickly devolved into a savage attack on the Bible. The man who is supposedly dedicated to teaching tolerance was, true to form, incredibly intolerant of Judeo-Christian values and anyone who believes in them.
About 100 students had the courage to get up and walk out of Savage's profanity-laced, bigoted rant. But Savage was just getting warmed up. The anti-bullying crusader bullied the students who left, calling them "pansy a--ed."
And this is the man ABC feels is worthy of a TV show. Walt Disney must be rolling over in his grave.

Plan B On Amnesty
House Republicans are reportedly planning to sue President Obama in federal court to stop his unilateral executive amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants. It's not yet clear whether they will join the lawsuit already filed by more than two states or if they will file their own lawsuit.
Some critics may accuse the GOP leadership of attempting to duck responsibility, but I believe this is an important step. In fact, it can be reasonably argued that it is the one action most likely to succeed in stopping Obama's amnesty.
Yes, the House and Senate should vote on legislation and/or funding measures. It is important that voters know exactly where their representative and senators stand on the issue of amnesty. But I have yet to hear the legislative strategy that overcomes a filibuster in the Senate or presidential veto.
While the courts move slowly, the judiciary has not been afraid to slap down Obama's overreach. Last year the Supreme Court declared Obama's controversial recess appointments to the National Labor Relations Board to be unconstitutional. The decision was unanimous -- 9-to-0.
Meanwhile, Obama continues to turn the concept of border security and enforcement upside down. The Associated Press reports today that "The Obama administration has ordered immigration agents to ask immigrants they encounter living in the country illegally whether they might qualify" for Obama's executive amnesty.
Unbelievably, it gets worse. Obama is trying to release criminals too. The AP adds, "Agents also have been told to review government files to identify any jailed immigrants they might be able to release under the program."
This is astonishing. Our Border Patrol agents are charged with keeping bad people out of the country. Obama is essentially turning our Border Patrol officers into Walmart greeters! "Hi, welcome to America. Enjoy your stay."
Obama Backs Down
Obama is dropping his idea to tax college savings accounts, known as 529 plans. The plans are used by millions of American families to help them save money tax free for college expenses.
As a senator, Obama voted in 2006 to make 529 tax savings permanent. Then, as the Wall Street Journal noted, Barack and Michelle took advantage of a "loophole" that allowed them to "front-load five years' worth of contributions, $240,000 in total for [their] two girls."
Republicans were quick to denounce Obama's latest middle class tax hike. And the idea was so poorly vetted that the White House was caught off guard by Democrat opposition as well. Even Nancy Pelosi opposed it!
Kudos To Michelle
First Lady Michelle Obama deserves a round of applause. While accompanying her husband on a trip to Saudi Arabia to meet the new king, Mrs. Obama refused to bend to the demands of radical Islamists. According to press reports, she wore pants, a "brightly colored jacket" and did not cover herself. Good for her!
Now if only she could convince her husband to identify the perpetrators of terrorist attacks as radical Islamists. That would be real progress.
