Antifa & ISIS

Columnist and author Ed Klein has a new book out called All Out War:  The Plot To Destroy Trump.  Some critics say that Klein is unreliable at times with his sources.  That strikes me as an odd criticism given that so many sources in the "mainstream" media are often unnamed.  But I'm not writing to critique his latest work.

Instead, I want to highlight a claim he makes in the book -- that the FBI has identified and documented ties between left-wing radicals in Antifa and radical Islamists in Al Qaeda and ISIS.

Specifically, Klein alleges that members of California-based Antifa groups traveled to Germany to protest the G20 meeting.  Violence erupted and hundreds of German police officers were injured.

"There is also evidence of meetings between these [Antifa] individuals and associates of ISIS," Klein writes.  "Making some sort of common cause with Americans who are determined to commit violence against the U.S. makes them potentially very useful to radical Islam."

Whether or not one trusts Ed Klein, we know that the FBI has already designated Antifa as "domestic terrorists."  And for good reason.

At first glance, an alliance of the radical left and radical Islamists seems contradictory.  But in its own way, it is totally logical.  Both radical groups are united by their common hatred of Western civilization and Judeo-Christian values.

The left's demonization of America's founders is on par with the Islamists' hatred of America as a "crusader nation" that props up Israel.  When Islamic supremacists see America's youth attacking our founders, they are no doubt emboldened in their view that America is a weak nation rotting from within.

And we've seen the growing alliance of the radical left and radical Islam for several years now on America's college campuses.  The Black Lives Matter movement stunned many liberals when it accused Israel of genocide.

If the college LGBTQ club is willing to make common cause with Students for Justice in Palestine (not that there are many college LGBTQ clubs in Gaza), it is logical that Antifa is willing to make common cause with ISIS.  And both groups have a common enemy in President Donald Trump.

Speaking Of Our Founders. . .

While Christ Church is taking down a plaque honoring George Washington, the Washington, D.C., city council has voted to erect a statue of Marion Barry -- that's right, the crack-smoking former mayor of our nation's capital.

As you may recall, Barry's most memorable quote as a politician came when cops burst through his hotel room door, "B-tch set me up!"

Since the man who led the fight for our nation's freedom is now so despised, perhaps the D.C. city council should just rename our nation's capital "Barryville."

A Disgusting Smear

I've been involved in politics for decades.  I know it is a "contact sport."  If you jump into the political arena, you'd better have thick skin and be prepared to take some hits.  Hardball tactics are part of the process.

But in all those years, I have never seen a more despicable ad than the one airing now in Virginia.

Not only does the ad exploit the tragic events of Charlottesville, it labels conservatives as bigots who would literally run down minority children in the streets.

Black, Hispanic and Middle Eastern children will see this ad.  They are being taught that conservatives want to kill them.

This is a new low for the left.  It is the worst form of identity politics and it demonstrates an utter lack of decency. But it is just another sad example of the left's desperation to smear anyone with conservative values as a bigot.  Whether you are pro-life, favor smaller government, support secure borders and stricter vetting of immigrants -- the left thinks you are deplorable and irredeemable.

The ad is so disgusting that several Democrat members of the General Assembly have condemned it, and I appreciate their willingness to speak out.

Democrat, Independent, Republican – no matter where you are on the political spectrum, America would be better off without outrageous ads like this that demonize fellow citizens.

Good News

This weekend, U.S. special forces captured Mustafa al-Imam, one of the leaders of the September 11, 2012, attack on our consulate in Benghazi, Libya.  That attack resulted in the deaths of four Americans -- Ambassador Christopher Stevens, Glen Doherty, Sean Smith, and Tyrone Woods.

It also triggered one of the worst scandals of the Obama Administration, in which top officials, including then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and then-U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, repeatedly lied to the American people about the nature of the attack.  Rather than blaming the atrocity on radical Islamic terrorists, they blamed an obscure video they said offended Islam.

In a statement, President Trump praised America's military and law enforcement personnel for this capture.  He also comforted the families of those lost in the attack, saying:

"I want you to know that your loved ones are not forgotten, and they will never be forgotten.  Our memory is deep and our reach is long, and we will not rest in our efforts to find and bring the perpetrators of the heinous attacks in Benghazi to justice."

Here's more good news.

Earlier this month, I joined dozens of grassroots conservative leaders in urging Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to dramatically accelerate the pace of confirmation votes for President Trump's nominees, especially his judicial nominees.  I am pleased to report to you that our message was received loud and clear.

I know Sen. McConnell would not win a popularity contest among our regular readers.  But when it comes to restoring balance to the federal courts, he has proven to be a reliable ally.

Senate progressives are using every tactic they can to delay confirmation votes.  Since Harry Reid "nuked" the filibuster on judicial nominations to ram through a bunch of left-wing Obama judges, all the progressives can do now is stall and delay.

Well, McConnell has had enough of it.  This week the only thing the Senate is doing is voting to confirm Trump's nominees, clearing out a backlog of stalled judicial nominations.

Needless to say, the left is having a nervous breakdown.  The Huffington Post declared, "The Senate Is About To Confirm A Frenzy Of Conservative Judges."

The article goes on to state, "This week is shaping up to be one of [the] biggest boosts to Trump's agenda since Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch was confirmed in April."

That is good news indeed!
